Our Impact

Here’s a taste of how we’ve helped you, and how you’ve helped us.

“I have been supported when I have not felt so good in myself. It has been good to have someone to talk to and they listen, so I have not felt alone.”

“To feel supported during one of the most difficult times of mine and my girls’ lives has been a blessing, and I’m so glad I referred myself to the Freedom course, which led to having a lovely worker signed to us. I’m constantly recommending the course and the team to other friends and family.”

A parent

“I have felt my confidence at being a parent has increased and I am finding it easier to manage more difficult situations. I feel I have a toolbox of strategies, whereas I felt a bit lost before.”

You said, we did

At Spurgeons, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to live a happy and hope-filled life, and that no child should face abuse, neglect or uncertainty. As a charity we have been in existence for over 150 years now, and in Wiltshire we have been delivering services for more than a decade, becoming part of the very community that we serve.

As a team we are here to make sure that every child has the best start in life, sometimes by providing services ourselves and sometimes by helping families to access our wonderful partners and the many excellent other services in Wiltshire.

We can only do this because of the funding we receive from Wiltshire Council and, quite rightly, we are responsible for providing evidence of the impact that we are making. This page contains just a taste of what we have achieved and what families have to say about our services.

“Our family support worker has been no end of support and guidance.  She has supported us with difficult behaviours, communication between us and with the school our children attend, and are a support for when we have been in crisis.”

A parent

“When I first got in touch with Spurgeons I was at breaking point, with no idea of where to turn or what to do.  [Our family support worker] has helped to turn that around for us and we are now feeling more positive and better equipped to both understand and better manage my son’s behaviour.”

A parent

“Thank you so much for calling today – I really appreciate your help.  I cannot thank you enough.  I was so nervous the first time I reached out for some help, but you’ve been so kind to us as a family and I’m no longer nervous about asking for some support whenever we may need it.”

Good news stories

Five to Thrive LogoOur partnership with Wiltshire Council around the use of the Five to Thrive Trauma and Attachment approach in Wiltshire has meant that we are now featured on the KCA official website.

How we’ve helped

More than 100 families were provided with food hampers and presents for Christmas, thanks to donations from businesses and other community groups.

Over 300 items of clothing and uniform have been given out thanks to a new ‘clothing rail’ initiative which aims to promote sustainability and help during the cost-of-living crisis.

We supported 925 adults and children with the Five to Thrive Trauma and Attachment approach, which promotes brain development and gives children the best possible start in life.
